Her concern for him was evident and authentic.
Our overall experience at SVH with my husband's hip replacement was excellent. From the time we entered the surgery area, where J greeted us with a smile and a sense of humor despite the early morning hour, to C, who prepped M for surgery, to the information board where I could track his surgery progress, our experience was all I hoped for.

Dr. G and Dr. W were thorough in their explanations of what to expect, and they took their time with us to be sure our questions were answered. Physical therapist D was wonderful with M - just the right personality to make him comfortable with his discharge.

This DAISY Award nomination is for Kunny, who cared for M post-surgery. She was extremely attentive, in and out, checking on M's wake-up progress, which was slow. She was fast on her feet, getting a bag when he got nauseated. She genuinely cared about his safety and whether it was right for him to go home on surgery day or if he should be admitted overnight. Her concern for him was evident and authentic.

What really impressed us was when a blood draw was ordered, and the lab said it would be over an hour to come to M, Kunny put her patient at the center of her care, Kunny went to the PACU and asked M's PACU nurse, Michelle, to come draw his blood so we would know sooner whether he could go home or not - and he really wanted to go home. Within a short time, as I was pulling up the test results on MyChart, Kunny came in to say she had alerted Dr. W to the results, so M could likely go home soon if he felt like it. Nurse M, too, was warm and thoughtful about how to get M's blood from his IV so she didn't have to poke him another time.

Please be sure Kunny knows about this nomination. We are very grateful for her care, concern, skill as a nurse, and her compassion for M and attentiveness to me.
