My 80-year-old grandpa was admitted to Mercy after a decline in his health. After two days, we had to make the decision to put him on comfort care/hospice. Shannon was a light guiding us through everything, each step of the way. She made sure he had the best possible care, while also taking care of all of us. Shannon advocated for him even when she wasn’t there, gave us hugs when we left each night, and colored with us at the nurse station when we needed some air. She was so gentle with him and listened to all of our concerns. You could tell how much she cared for him and our family every time she interacted with us. While most of our nurses were amazing, Shannon became a part of our family by going above and beyond.
