Rebecca was working on the weekend when a patient was found down in the parking lot at Tanasbourne IC. The team jumped into action to save the patient, but, unfortunately, after a very valiant effort, they were unable to revive the patient. Following the incident, Rebecca reached out to me, as the leader on call, and gave me a very clear rundown of the situation, what had happened, and what was currently going on with the team. There were many caregivers who had never been in a code situation before or been in a situation where the patient did not survive. Rebecca gave me a very clear SBAR on what she thought the team needed, what plans she had in place, and what the rest of the day should look like. She had a debrief scheduled and ready to go, requested that spiritual support be brought in for staff, and we discussed what it would look like to make sure that any caregivers who needed to step away to compose themselves had the opportunity to do so.

Rebecca's leadership, her advocacy for the team's needs, her clear communication, and level head during this situation were a shining example of what a Registered Nurse should be, and she is very deserving of recognition.
