I had the privilege of working alongside Saja during my internship. She is not just a skilled nurse, she is an artist of compassion. I watched her go beyond the call of duty, connecting with even the most vulnerable patients who couldn't speak. She patiently communicated using letter boards, gestures, and gave them pen and paper so they could have a voice when their bodies could not. One moment I will never forget was with a patient who was nonverbal and loved a certain singer from her youth. After learning this from the patient's family, Saja made it a point to play the patient's favorite songs during care. She would dance gently beside her, and I saw tears of joy falling from the patient's eyes a silent but powerful expression of happiness, when words were no longer possible. Saja doesn't just care for her patients, she touches their souls and gives them back their dignity. She is a rare light in the department, and she truly deserves the DAISY Award.
