Through my journey, I began to feel very close to her as if she had now become my family too. I actually looked forward to my visits just to see her.
Remembering the day I started my chemo treatment, having just lost my sister, not only was I in shock, but I was also left to go through chemo without her. I was scared to death and in pain from her passing. Casey came over to me with such an endearing smile and such compassion; she immediately sat down and held my hand. She not only calmed my fears and listened to my grief, but she truly cared, and I felt from that moment that God had placed me in her care for a reason. It was not a coincidence, it was fate. I started my cancer journey that day with Casey by my side. Casey always greeted me with her warm smile and her genuine compassion and emotional support.
Throughout my treatments, I had many ups and downs, but Casey always found a way to make me smile and would share stories of her family and update me on her children as we shared stories of my family together, too! Through my journey, I began to feel very close to her as if she had now become my family too. I actually looked forward to my visits just to see her. She shared in my progress, and she shared in my setbacks, and truly, after having lost my sister a month before my diagnosis, I did not know just how I would be able to get through my treatments. It was because of the support of everyone, all the nurses in the infusion. Casey was there through it all with me for 14 months. And we formed a special bond. She exemplifies amazing kindness, caring, compassion, and knowledge of her career, and amazing skills, and it is very apparent that her co-workers all love her too! She treats all her patients and co-workers with such respect, and she enjoys bringing happiness to her unit. She decorates for the holidays and makes the last day of treatment SO special for all her patients. She loves making her patients feel loved and cared for. I am so very blessed to have had her in my cancer journey, and loved sharing my first breast cancer walk celebration with her too.
Casey most definitely deserves the DAISY Award. I would not be here now without her and my amazing doctors and staff.
