Her bedside manner is exceptional; she made me feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for.
I’ve been hospitalized quite a bit due to my condition, sickle cell anemia, but this was my first time on the cardiac care unit. That’s where I met nurse Carrie Martin – and to say she is a phenomenal nurse would be an understatement. We clicked. Carrie is incredibly knowledgeable, but didn’t know a lot about sickle cell anemia. She took the time to ask thoughtful questions and genuinely listened to my answers. She wanted to know how I preferred things to be done, as I was new to her unit. She was so respectful of how things are usually handled, where I normally receive care. That small gesture meant a lot. Carrie showed compassion, empathy, and true professionalism every time. She entered my room, and she communicated exactly what she was doing, especially when it came to my medications. She explained the dosage, the schedule, and stayed on top of everything so I didn’t have to keep calling. She brought my meds on time and made sure I didn’t run out of heating packs, which was such a relief while I was in intense pain. Her bedside manner is exceptional; she made me feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. Carrie’s energy was vibrant, uplifting, and even healing. And no matter what she might have been going through herself, she always had a smile on her face. That’s a rare gift. Carrie is a strong advocate for her patients. In all my hospital stays, I’ve encountered many nurses, but Carrie stood out in the best way. She went above and beyond in every possible sense, and I only had one experience with her to feel the difference she makes. I told my family about the incredible care I received from here. Carrie Martin left a lasting impression on me, and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to an extraordinary, exceptional, and truly unique nurse.
