Kate is very passionate about her patients. Kate is very diligent when preparing the surgical suite and always makes sure she has what the surgeons need. Kate has excellent clinical skills and knowledge in the OR, and if unfamiliar with a procedure, she takes the time to research and develop herself.

Kate has always been an excellent nurse. She is always interested in doing the right thing and acts as a mentor to new staff and Capstone students. A couple of weeks ago, her assignment was changed; she had a Capstone coming, and her patient was anxiously awaiting her surgery. Kate handled everything with grace. She was welcoming to the student, able to calm her patient in pre‐op, and dealt with the assignment change in a safe and efficient manner. Kate is someone you can always rely on.

Kate was in a very complex case/surgery, caring for her patient. It was a dual procedure with two surgeons. It was very busy and challenging, but she stayed calm and focused on patient safety. Kate was orienting a Capstone student and demonstrated her ability to keep her composure and focus on the patient despite the challenges she was facing.
