Through her lightning speed actions, she still had moments to empathize with me and tell me she is there for me and will be by my side all night until I get a room. I felt safe and validated.
Wow. Most amazing nurse I have ever come across. Why? Well, let me tell you. First, I had surgery (rectopexy) 2 days prior. Discharged from the hospital that day, and one hour later, I was back with severe abdominal pain, 10/10 pain radiating to my shoulder and chest, making it hard to breathe. I was triaged and EKG done. Then waited 90 minutes to be seen by a doctor. Stat tests/scan ordered. Due to severe pain, I was unable to tolerate CT until the pain was controlled. So, I was sent to the waiting room to wait for a bed. Waited another 2 hours in the waiting room with excruciating pain until finally the doctor realized something was not right, not sure if she missed something or realized I was shuffled back into the system by mistake. Thank God two nurses finally caught this. 4 hours I had waited. There is more to this story but that is the important part. Why is it important to share this part? So now comes Jenny into the picture.

She heard what was going on and immediately got to work. She was the fastest and most efficient nurse I have ever seen. I call her Speedy Gonzalez. She said, “I am going to get an IV in you right now and get you pain meds immediately. You have been in severe pain long enough, and this will stop now.” I could hardly focus due to the pain, but I heard her loud and clear. I felt like she actually cared and treated me as if I were one of her family members. She got an IV placed in less than a minute. Started pushing pain meds like no other. Within 5 minutes, my pain was tolerable, and I was comfortable. She assured me that the doctor is responding to all her requests right away and will get what she needs immediately with no delays. She explained everything she was doing every step of the way. I finally felt safe and cared for. Through her lightning speed actions, she still had moments to empathize with me and tell me she is there for me and will be by my side all night until I get a room. I felt safe and validated. She knows her stuff and has the God given gift to care for people in an angelic way. She was made for emergency nursing.

Oh, by the way, I am an RN myself. I consider myself an excellent nurse, and I had the honor of being the recipient of the DAISY Award myself. But after meeting Jenny, she takes the bar. Wow. All I can say is Wow. She was my angel that day and will be forever remembered in my heart. My husband was with me the whole time, and we both absolutely believe she is worthy of the DAISY Award. Thank you for all you did for me that day!
