Carlie was right there with me when I told her I was losing my vision and hearing. She sprang right into action and kept me conscious while she called for backup.
During my stay at the hospital, I was kept for two hours shy of five days. I had the pleasure of meeting my day nurse, Carlie. The days were long being stuck in that room, but Carlie was able to help take my mind off of things. We would joke about all the pillows I brought with me, or the SpongeBob show I had playing in the background the whole stay, because nothing was on TV. At one point, I couldn’t be in bed anymore, so she had me walking around L&D with my husband, and all three of us were doing squats and lung exercises to help break my water.
Once I had my baby and I had to use the bathroom for the first time, I lost a lot of blood. Thankfully, Carlie was right there with me when I told her I was losing my vision and hearing. She sprang right into action and kept me conscious while she called for backup. After that incident, I felt very safe with her when she was in the room. My baby monitor kept losing the baby's heartbeat when I would slightly move positions in bed, but both ladies never made me feel bad about my body pain and the constant checking on me.
Carlie was also very thorough with cleaning the baby, answering our questions, and refilling any Ice packs or water/jello I needed. I had some experiences with other nurses while staying at the hospital, but once I met her, I knew I would be making sure to nominate her. When it was time to go home, I was really excited to leave my room and breathe fresh air, but I started to cry knowing I most likely wouldn’t see this woman again for a while unless we ran into each other around town. I felt very grateful for the care I received while giving birth to my first child. I highly recommend Carlie for The DAISY Award.
