I think she left over an hour late in the end, but she wanted to make sure Evie had a special day.
This weekend was my daughter's third birthday. She has spent most of her life in hospital bar the odd few months here and there where we have been lucky enough to be at home. We organized a special visitor, Anna from Frozen, to come to the ward on  Saturday April 12th to celebrate. This meant that Evie’s medication for her PN infusion needed connecting early so she could receive the full infusion to be disconnected in time. Unfortunately, there was a delay and it was handed over to the night team, until Lissy Appleyard off Ward 7 heard about this.

It was already 20:10pm and her 12-hour shift had already finished, but not wanting to wait she stayed late to assist in making sure Evie;’s medication was connected on time, to have her disconnected on time. I think she left over an hour late in the end but she wanted to make sure Evie had a special day. Evie wasn’t even her patient for the day.

As if that wasn’t enough, today, Lissy again left over an hour late because another patient needed urgent care and she didn’t want to hand over some of Evie's care to the night team. She wanted to make sure everything was done, and Evie could have a nice settled evening. Thank you so much Lissy, you are a credit to W7 @ BCH.
