I met Zach in my second week here, and he served strongly with much generosity as my primary nurse for 3-day blocks of time and 2-3 times since then. As a nurse and as a person in his nursing care, what stood out to me was his overwhelming spirit of generosity. Whether it was problem-solving over health and rehab concerns, or if it was enjoying each other’s company over football games and rooting for the teams that were hated rivals (Giants and Eagles), or if it was his genuine relief that he was going to be my primary nurse and see each other. We would tease each other about football and laugh together. I was always so grateful when I learned he was going to be my nurse for the day.

The trait that stood out to me behind his professional nursing care and his authentic conversation was his kindness. This illness has been very challenging physically and emotionally, and to the foundations of my marriage. He listened, and he heard me and empathized with me actively when I was barely holding it together. When I describe the profound challenges to my primary relationship, he was there. I am so very grateful that Zach was there for me during my stay here!
