Any words that I write here today are not enough to describe how much our family loves Aiden. He was there with us on our first night in the NICU, and he has been with us for several days throughout our over four-month admittance at Northside Hospital. Aiden loves his patients and their families with his entire heart. You can tell that when he is working with the Babies, he is focused on the babies. He is not a nurse who is gossiping at the nurses' station. He is a nurse who takes care of not only his patients, but their families. He is gentle, compassionate, and empathetic. I am always impressed with how gentle he is with my baby. She is extremely lucky to have someone like him as her nurse. I wish that he could be our nurse every single day. He always reassures me about her conditions. He is always attentive to her care and never misses one thing. His sweet demeanor brings me comfort during the hardest time of my life. I wish I could give him 10 DAISY Awards. Aiden gives the best hugs. I bring those hugs home with me and cry at how sweet they are and how safe they make me feel. His hugs heal my heart and soul, making me feel more confident about leaving my baby overnight in a strange building with hundreds of people we don’t know, caring for the most important person in my life. If I could trust Aiden with my own life, I know that I can trust him with my baby's life. I feel comfort and knowing that should anything happen with my baby, Aiden is right there to take care of her, and he will take the best care of her. I guess the only thing I’m going to miss about saying goodbye to the NICU someday is also saying goodbye to the best nurse Northside has.
