I was being induced 4 weeks early, and for two of the many nights we stayed, she was our nurse. She was the peace in the middle of the storm. She was always very kind, approachable, and deeply knowledgeable about all the procedures going on in our situation. She always took the time to explain our options and continued to explain until we were comfortable. On top of that, she spent both of our nights chasing our wiggle worm around the fetal heartbeat monitor – even if it meant she’d fix it, get no more than a step out the door, and immediately come back in. She never lost her cool or got annoyed by the countless times he would squirm away from the monitor. She’d just calmly come in, stand there, and move the monitor until it was back on, and repeat the process again after he had squirmed away from it again.

On top of the countless times she’d come in for the monitor, she also had to deal with my excessive thirst and would joyfully bring me yet another glass of water and help me use the bedside commode shortly thereafter. She never once complained or made it feel like an imposition. Even though we were sad that she wouldn’t be our nurse for a third night in a row, we were glad she was able to have a couple of days off to spend with her husband and son. We were still in the hospital for her next shift a few days later, and at that point, we were thankfully no longer in labor and delivery but in postpartum. She made it a point to come over and see the little wiggle worm that she had been chasing on the monitors a few nights before. Throughout this experience, we felt like we gained not only an exceptional nurse but also a friend! If we were to be admitted to the hospital again and she worked in the department, we would, without a doubt, specifically ask for her. Soin has one of the best nurses in the business!
