It was noticeable that Dana not only cared for the well-being of our babies but also for us, as the parents.
Two and a half years ago, we left the hospital without a baby in our hands. Our 31-week son was stillborn, and that was one of our biggest fears this pregnancy. We were admitted at 27+5 days and were told our twin boys would be delivered via c-section at exactly 31 weeks as well. Our experience at Edward was made exemplary by many staff members, but we would especially like to mention Dana Ruh in the NICU. Once we were moved to the NICU, Dana was one of the amazing nurses we met in the first few days. In our first meeting with Dana, she immediately made a place in our hearts. Her experience and kindness were evident in the way she cared for our twins. Upon speaking with her, she provided us with very informative answers to our numerous questions. It was noticeable that Dana not only cared for the well-being of our babies but also for us, as the parents. She understood how difficult it is for parents to leave their babies in the NICU, but leaving our boys with someone like Dana made the experience less daunting. As parents, we felt a lot of guilt and anxiety when we were away from our babies. Dana constantly assured us that we don't have to feel guilty and that our well-being and other commitments are also important. Dana was the one who handed our twins to us for the first time so we could hold them! She respected our religious practices and encouraged us to recite our newborn prayers. With Dana, we felt at ease and comfortable. We couldn't be more thankful to have met Dana and to leave our babies in her care. Edward is an extremely lucky hospital to have such wonderful nurses on their team. The presence of these amazing nurses has had a huge impact on our experience and our lives. They walked by us in our scariest moments and helped us navigate through the fear. Although once again, we left the hospital without our babies in our arms, we walked away with confidence in the staff to care for our babies until we can take them home. Thank you!
