His contributions and achievements not only bring nursing to its best but also provide proof of unwavering dedication to research (advocating for patients), leading and mentoring teams, training and inspiring nurses and emerging leaders, promoting a compassionate environment for patients and nurses, and bolstering the positive image of nursing.
He is an extraordinary nurse leader and has been on the path of achieving lifetime achievements that not only impact patient care through his leadership, academic, and research acumen, but more so in molding and inspiring aspiring and emerging leaders to be catalysts of improvement and excellence. His passion for touching and being involved in as many nursing sectors as possible, such as becoming a first-class preceptor, a neuro/stroke specialist RN of this organization, is so ubiquitous that it makes nursing great and meaningful. His methodological and scholarly approach to improving HAI, such as CLABSI metrics, is inspiring to other leaders. It's his humble and quiet demeanor that amazes me the most, he doesn't mind to take the backseat at all, for him the ability to mold and influence new nurses and new leaders not only in Baylor St. Luke's but across the nation is his best ever achievement, in fact it is, for every servant leader like him.

He spearheaded the implementation of practice research on a 2-stage sterile field for gynecology and colorectal surgeries to prevent surgical infections. Results showed a significant >9% reduction in infection rates from preop-intraop-postop, discharge to home, and three months after discharge. The same hallmark practice has been adopted in numerous hospitals in the Texas Medical Center from 2015 to the present.
