Our family would like to nominate each member of the 2E Hospice staff for a DAISY Award. Every member of the staff was outstanding in their care, compassion, empathy, and caring of both our father and the family. Every day the staff took the time to outline the goals of care for the day, provide us with information based on their assessment and always had a minute to spend with us providing reassurance. From the first day, ensuring he had an afghan for a veteran, to explaining the process, and for the ensuing days, everyone reading his bio and commenting on his life, to the last day, when a nurse from the team made absolutely certain he was comfortable and gave us the privacy we needed, these nurses were exceptional. The clinical expertise was evident every day. Carefully monitoring medications, knowing what medication was available, and choosing the best med to make our father the most comfortable. Concern about dad's comfort was paramount, including repositioning frequently, baths, and other care for his and our comfort. Bedside report occurred every day, so that all of us were aware of what was going on, and we had the comfort of meeting the incoming RN. Every day, every nurse made time to discuss care, comfort measures, and explain any changes in medications. More importantly, they made time to get to know our dad, through the bio in the room or by listening to our stories. To spend time just talking to us, about dad, about what was going on, about our families, or just a few minutes of a pleasant chat. These nurses are exceptional, and you are blessed to have them at your hospital.
