Julia is a top-notch human, an awesome nurse, and an example we should all strive to be more like.
Julia is an exceptional asset to the St. Elizabeth care team and a nurse whom I will always admire. Working with Julia almost my entire nursing career has afforded me the benefit of witnessing firsthand just how special she is. First off, Julia has a lot of experience and fills many roles as a nurse at St. Elizabeth.

On one weekend occasion, the OB unit had back-to-back urgent cesarean deliveries. Julia was the House Supervisor that day, not to mention an experienced OR nurse, so both deliveries were conducted flawlessly. Julia had the operating room open and ready before the crew even showed up for the first procedure. Julia made sure the OR was cleaned and ready to go, and just as the dust had settled, the second urgent cesarean was called. Again, Julia showed off her seasoned ability.

Julia is very compassionate. She had elderly neighbors she assisted, cared for, kept in contact with out of state relatives concerning their condition and needs, and provided them much needed human connection. One of the elderly neighbors was hospitalized at St. Elizabeth and Julia helped care for them, got their prescriptions for them prior to discharge, and provided transportation home.

In a different instance, a patient couldn’t afford her insulin prescription. Julia worked as the liaison, contacting the physician for a cheaper generic option and found a coupon to lower the price of the insulin further. After working tirelessly, Julia was willing to pay the balance of the prescription to make sure the patient was able to get her insulin.

Julia knows no bounds and has a huge nurse heart. She thanked, consoled, and sent flowers to staff members who cared for her father during his final moments on earth. Julia put others first when she should have been the center of attention, having lost her loved one. Julia is a top-notch human, an awesome nurse, and an example we should all strive to be more like.

Julia’s daughter used to work in housekeeping, and one more example of Julia’s kindness is that she would have her daughter visit patients and play the ukulele for them. This brightened the patient’s day and broke the monotony of being cooped up in a hospital room. This was also Julia’s way of encouraging relationships, caring for others, and fostering compassion in future generations. I am thankful for Julia. She has made a difference for so many and is a glowing example of human kindness.
