Mary also pioneered an in-person group mentor pilot for the TTP program, allowing learners in the first year of their nursing journey to have a live touchpoint of support.
Mary Chauvin is an above-and-beyond educator, colleague, and NPD practitioner. She creates immersive learning experiences for her TTP participants, engaging the best compliments of technology, supplies, and equipment. Her learners frequently comment about her exceptional teaching style. One such learner states, "As usual, anything Mary teaches us is so very helpful. Mary knows her stuff and has such good ways of explaining everything. She is so engaging and easy to ask questions. Love her." In addition to her "day job" of teaching the next generation of ED nurses for the NCD Division, she chairs NPDC for Professional Governance - a huge undertaking where she has helped move the needle on critical Division-wide initiatives around topics like NVHAP. She still finds time to innovate in our department, leveraging new technology platforms and championing the integration of tools like Virtual Reality Simulation into her classrooms. She brings creative solutions to the team and takes time to teach peers and leaders alike about optimizing their own use of daily tools like WebEx, SharePoint, Outlook - and does so with the kindness that never leaves another feeling "less than." Mary also pioneered an in-person group mentor pilot for the TTP program, allowing learners in the first year of their nursing journey to have a live touchpoint of support. This type of support allows nurses who may be frustrated midway through their first year in the profession to understand that they are not alone, have resources, and that it is ok to ask for help. She goes out of her way to mentor new Educators in the Department, and does so with a smile on her face and warmth in her heart. Mary is a consummate asset to the team and a pleasure to work with. I can think of no one more deserving of this recognition.
