I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the exceptional care I received from Kacy Gehring, a Labor and Delivery nurse at Saint Peter’s University Hospital. Kacy was my nurse when I gave birth to my son, K, and she went above and beyond in every way.

Giving birth for the first time was one of the most overwhelming and traumatic experiences of my life, but Kacy’s kindness, expertise, and unwavering support made all the difference. When the doctor was pushing for a C-section, due to my son's heart rate dropping, she was my advocate, ensuring that I was heard and that both my baby and I were well cared for. Thanks to her, I was able to deliver my son naturally rather than undergoing an unplanned and potentially unnecessary C-section. I truly believe that without her, my birth experience would have been very different. Her calming presence reassured me in my most vulnerable moments, and she made what could have been an incredibly scary experience so much more manageable. When K was born, his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, and he came out pale, limp, and required oxygen. It was an incredibly traumatic experience, to say the least, but Kacy reassured me every step of the way, making sure I knew he was in good hands and that everything was going to be okay. Kacy not only provided exceptional medical care—placing my IV with skill and coaching me through every push—but she also provided emotional support that I will never forget. Her compassion, patience, and dedication truly exceeded the meaning of a nurse, and I believe she deserves to be recognized for the extraordinary impact she has on her patients.

I would love to formally nominate Kacy for the DAISY Award as a token of my deep appreciation for the incredible care she
provided. Nurses like her make all the difference, and I feel so fortunate to have had her by my side during such an important
moment in my life.
