I am a 52-year-old Below the Knee Amputee. Sheila has been my nurse throughout it all. From the first amputation of my toes until the end. Each step of the way, she has been there showing me compassion, understanding, and knowledge. Sheila faithfully came twice a week for weeks at a time, making sure I was doing okay and thriving. It was never just a quick visit so she could get to her next appointment. She always took the time I needed to feel safe and comfortable. She had great suggestions, and if she didn't have an answer, she would find it as soon as she could. I've never had a nurse who I trusted as much as Sheila. She has never made me feel handicapped or less independent. She was always there to fix up my medications and was also the first one to give me encouragement, letting me know I was capable of accomplishing anything I put my mind to. Along with the amputation, I also have an autoimmune disease, which she has always shown such a sense of compassion about. Helping me to try to understand it and making suggestions on how to make my life easier and better. I know my life wouldn’t be the same if it weren't for Sheila. I am truly grateful that I met and had the privilege of working with her.
