My husband was admitted to 2 North at Riverview Medical Center for an unexpected gallbladder removal. Julie was our first nurse during the stay, and her warm, calming presence helped make a fairly upsetting situation a little less scary. She had explained test results, the upcoming surgery, post-surgery expectations, and always made sure we had everything we needed, as well as ensured my husband was as comfortable as possible. She always checked in with us, even when not assigned to our room. A smile and a wave were sometimes all I needed as my husband was there to get better.

Once my husband’s operation was behind us, every nurse assigned to us was truly exceptional. His surgery and situation were more complicated than originally expected, and everyone on 2 North would take the time to go over my husband’s progress, blood results, or just a friendly check-in. It truly takes a village when caring for those who are ill, and every single nurse on 2 North is caring for numerous patients simultaneously. The fact that each patient receives this exceptional service every time is a testament to the nurses’ passion, compassion, commitment, and ability to proudly answer a calling for which only a few are qualified.
