I presented to the E.R. with a seeping post-surgical wound site and an inoperative wound vac. at approximately 3 pm. Nurse Angela was called down to consult on the wound vac. It was determined that the wound vac was in place and that they would proceed with cleaning the wound and repacking the bandage. Angela jumped right in to help. Not only did she assist with the cleaning, but she also helped apply a staple to my wound to help stop the bleeding. She then proceeded to train my wife on how to cover the wound properly for the home care part.

Angela ended up staying until around 530 pm to help. She could have left after it was determined the pump wasn't going to be repairable, but she not only jumped right in, showing great initiative, but she also stayed at least an hour over her shift without being asked. She demonstrated the ICARE values in this situation, and by explaining and training my wife on bandaging, helped ease some of her fears as well. She is a great credit to her department and the Hospital.
