We came to the ER for my non-English-speaking sister-in-law. I am fluent in Spanish/English. My sister-in-law was being cared for by a nurse named Donna, who was a very caring nurse. She showed empathy not just in her duties as a nurse, but also a kind heart, joy, and a true person. My sister-in-law expressed that, not knowing the language, everything feels unsafe due to the law/media; however, Mrs. Donna showed safety in the way she treated her with such kindness and integrity. It is a very scary time, and she did such an outstanding job treating her and caring for her.

She is the true definition of Extraordinary; therefore, she needs this award not for any other reason than she showed her true self in the meaning of what a nurse truly is.
