Amanda goes out of her way to make both patients and staff feel comfortable. Amanda makes the unit feel like a family.
Amanda acts as a relief charge nurse on night shift. She steps up as a leader and helps create a safe environment for all staff to ask questions, especially new grads. She helps create a safe learning environment.

In the past couple of weeks, there have been multiple cases of PPH. In these instances, Amanda acted as a leader, assigning roles, clarifying doctors' orders, and working quickly to move patients from the delivery room to the OR when necessary. She truly helped save patients’ lives. She followed patients to the main OR and helped coordinate care in the ICU when patients were moved to a higher level of acuity. She helped coordinate MTPs and acted as an advocate and educator to providers when necessary, explaining the conditions for calling MTPs and why additional resources might be indicated.

She goes out of her way to update staff on patients' conditions when they have moved to a higher level of acuity, providing us with a sense of relief when we hear patients are okay. In addition, she continually checks up on staff after work to make sure we are not in need of any more resources or help. Amanda goes out of her way to make both patients and staff feel comfortable. Amanda makes the unit feel like a family.

On a personal level, Amanda was the charge nurse during my first fetal demise cases. She was an excellent resource for me—she shared her knowledge and went through the fetal demise notebook we have on the unit. During the deliveries, she was extremely supportive of both staff and patients. She helped me provide postmortem care to the infant and support the parents in their time of need. She provided the perfect words to comfort the patients and explained the options for bonding with their newborn after a fetal demise.

Overall, Amanda acts as a reliable leader on the floor and is an irreplaceable resource to staff and patients for knowledge and support during difficult times.
