She encouraged us to ask any questions we had. Bottom line: our trepidations, fears, and concerns dropped significantly.
For the past year, my husband and I have noted changes in his memory, involvement, and general mental health. From our first appointment, nurse Christy Evans graciously and warmly greeted us in the waiting room, smiling and explaining, with each step we took, what my husband was going to do. She explained who we were seeing and what would occur during the session. We were most nervous, but as we began to talk with Nurse Christy, she answered our questions and provided us with a "road map" of the events that would occur. This helped my husband (as well as myself) tremendously. She encouraged us to ask any questions we had. Bottom line: our trepidations, fears, and concerns dropped significantly. Each time we have been for an appointment, Nurse Evans has been calming, kind, and informative. This walk has been the most emotional, filled with questions and fear. Nurse Christy has answered all our questions, explained who the practitioner was that we were to see, and provided both my husband and me with her information, directions, a smile, and overall concern.
Yesterday, we went to her office for an appointment, then to a second appointment on the lab floor below. As I was waiting in the lab, I realized I had left my cell phone in her office. Suddenly, a gentle tap on my shoulder, Nurse Christy! She found my phone in the practitioner's office and quickly got it to me. As the spouse of a man who has issues with his memory, this walk is new to us, with roles changing. It's scary, but thanks to Nurse Christy, I am fully aware that she will guide me to the right answer, help me find a new normal, and show me that my husband and I are not alone. We have LeBauer Neurology, and we have Nurse Christy. Yes, she is "doing her job," but it is the caring, concerned, knowledgeable, and calming persona she exhibits that is overwhelming. We are blessed to have Nurse Christy, as I am sure all patients and families who find themselves in her care are.
