Teresa Jennings. Teresa Jennings, RN, is someone I would consider one in a million in her role and dedication to the profession. Currently the manager of the ED, she not only fulfills her managerial duties, but you will often find her at the patient's bedside many hours a week. The compassion she has for her career, patients, and colleagues is immeasurable. The critical thinking skills she possesses are impeccable. The relationship with her team is strong, which makes her an excellent role model for those blessed enough to work with and receive her care. Her willingness to be present at the bedside has shown her team where her priorities lie. Theresa has never expected others to do more than she is willing to put forth herself.

I have witnessed Teresa in many critical circumstances, and she maintains a calm and empathetic manner. Her communication with the team is strong and effective, and she is always willing to mentor those new to the department. She provides excellent feedback and can find the good in any outcome. In the past, Teresa was recognized as one of Iowa’s top 100 nurses, and anyone who knows her would agree that she is one of the best.

In addition to managing her department, she also fulfills her obligations to many different committees within MCMH. She and her staff participate in community safety education during Montgomery County’s National Night Out. Teresa previously served on the Elliott EMS for many years. She has extensive knowledge of Hazmat and Emergency Preparedness. Teresa stands out amongst the rest when it comes to putting others before herself. She is truly an angel in disguise and deserves the DAISY Award.
