I had my appendix taken out, and this was the first major surgery of any kind that I have ever had. I was extremely nervous. I also had never gone under general anesthesia and was worried about that as well. I struggle with anxiety, and that was heightened through the experience. After waking up, I was greeted by Shelby, who was incredibly kind and helpful, making me feel like I needed to express my gratitude for her compassion. After I woke up, I started having a full-on panic attack, and Shelby was able to hold my hand and help calm me down. We discussed other things to distract me, such as a girls' night I'm hosting, etc. I really felt like she cared about my life and things outside the hospital. I don't remember much while being transported from the PACU to the main recovery room, but I couldn't stop thinking about how nice Shelby was. So much so that I made my fiancé write her name down while I was half-asleep, so I wouldn't forget it. Thank you so much, Shelby!
