My wife and I just had our first child recently in the early morning hours. My wife gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in perfect health. My wife experienced several complications after birth to the point of receiving several units of blood. She had dramatic blood pressure drops, 3rd degree tearing, and complications breastfeeding from all of the issues. As a first-time dad and husband, I was traumatized from almost losing my wife. I couldn’t have been more thankful for this one nurse. As you can imagine, I was beyond distressed trying to juggle a newborn and a hurt new momma. When our day time nurse, Haley, arrived, she not only went above and beyond the call to serve, but did it with such empathy for my wife. She truly was a God send when it came to advocating for my wife to doctors. She also coached me on how to take care of her, allowing time to help both of us take care of our newborn son. She never rushed us to do anything. She always had time to talk with my wife about the feelings of being a bad mom over the issues she was experiencing with breastfeeding. She even helped get our son ready for all the first photographs that my wife had planned, but couldn’t get up to get him ready. She brushed our son's hair just right every time. Most of all, she had empathy for my wife at every moment when she didn’t feel she was “good enough,” and she encouraged her to keep going and not be so hard on herself. She even helped put our son in the new stroller/car seat. She walked us all the way to my truck and saw us off. I truly don’t know where we would be without that kind of support. We are back home now. Everyone is doing great, and we couldn’t be more thankful for this little hero wearing scrubs, rushing through the halls of the 4th floor, doing the same thing she did for us with another couple.
