The whole time, Maya was my nurse that day and did more than a nurse is expected to do. I have visited many different hospitals, so I have been cared for by numerous nurses. The way she communicated with me was great. I was especially grateful for how she made the shower situation, as I was worried about taking one, as I could only use one foot. She guided me with calmness, and that passed over to me.

Since I could not put pressure on my right foot, she showed me how to do it easily. She took her time taking off my bandages for the ultrasound. She put them on so well that the next day, the foot doctor asked me who put them on. They said she did a good job. When I hit the nurse button, it was like she was just outside the door. I had a bad case of diarrhea, so I would stay there for a long period of time. She would check on me and ask me if I was OK or needed help. Her attitude was a plus. She would start with small chit chat about the shows I was watching. Just in total, the care I received from her was the best I’ve ever had.

I know that Parkland has the best nurses, and if the doctors are as good as hers. They have the best doctors, too. Not one bit worried about my health, operation, or recovery here because of her.
