Fetal Demise is one of the most heartbreaking experiences a family could experience. The story of how the Ontario MCH department touches the lives of parents is very inspiring. The HEAL Empty Arms is the Maternal Child Health Fetal Loss Team that focuses on providing compassionate and respectful care to our patients and families who suffer a perinatal loss. The team ensures that the family and KP staff see the baby as a person. H- Help and Hope, E-Empathy & Encourage, A-Acknowledge, L-living with loss, and HEAL- Empty Arms. The team is focused on giving the best experience for grieving families at any stage of loss. The primary mission is to provide individualized, high-quality, empathetic care in any setting. The team nurtures and encourages the family to acknowledge and live with their loss. HEAL team's driver is to care, but “Caring” with a personal touch by communicating and relationship-based care. The team also creates beautiful memory boxes and photography of the baby that are very palpable with the impact of the photos. The team uses innovation to capture photos in water. The photos are so beautiful and thoughtful. Additionally, the team continues the OMC Traditional Candlelight Remembrance Day in October for pregnancy loss, infant death, miscarriage, stillbirth, or the death of a newborn. The list of returning guests is so touching and memorable. Thank you, HEAL Team, for all that you do!
