A patient’s family came to the bedside to see their loved one off to a procedure. Galo was covering the primary nurse for a break. Unfortunately, the patient had already been taken down to the procedure. Galo walked the family down to the waiting room and asked the procedure nurses if the family could see the patient before the procedure. They were able to work something out where the family got to see the patient one last time. Sadly, this patient did not make it out of the procedure. Unbeknownst to him, Galo provided this family with the opportunity to have a final goodbye to their loved ones. I, personally, can’t imagine how special that little extra effort made the family feel. Galo consistently goes out of his way to provide the most compassionate care to all patients.
