She made this grueling process that much more bearable, and I'll forever be thankful for her.
My husband and I went to our first sonogram appointment to see our baby. In a matter of 10 minutes, we found out it wasn't just one baby, but two babies and neither had a heartbeat. Needless to say, we were and are heartbroken. Throughout my life, I have dreamed of being a mother. Yes, there is always a "we can try again", but during that moment and time, you feel the whole world around you kind of stop. We scheduled the D&E.
As a nurse myself, I know more about this process than I would have liked. I was scared. I was sad. I was more sad for after, though, because I knew I would not have my babies physically with me anymore. When I returned from surgery, I met my post-op nurse, Meghann, and I couldn't have asked for a better one. She comforted me when I needed it most. She made me feel seen and heard. This is what makes a great nurse. She made this grueling process that much more bearable, and I'll forever be thankful for her.
