Phyllis is an experienced hospice nurse; she admits a large number of new hospice patients and, when working weekends, visits the sickest patients. Phyllis is a strong advocate for our patients and actively seeks to bring them to a place of comfort- physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Phyllis spends time educating family and caregivers on how to care for the patient and how to create a calming and peaceful environment. She is often able to achieve this when she has never met the family or patient prior to the visit. Phyllis has a strong knowledge base in symptom management, which she willingly shares with her nursing peers. Phyllis also cares for fellow staff members, calling, texting, and following up with them when she knows they are going through a difficult time. She has assisted with the orientation of new staff with patience and kindness.
