It is so incredibly obvious that Anna was made to be a nurse, and our experience welcoming our little one into the world would have been 50x more overwhelming without her support and care.
After experiencing a miscarriage, followed by 3 years of infertility, my husband and I welcomed our miracle rainbow baby. Anna was with us for 2 total shifts during our relatively short time, and her care was truly unmatched. For being (probably) the youngest nurse that we had during our stay, she was hands down the most welcoming, professional, and knowledgeable. We experienced latching issues consistently during our stay, and I was incredibly emotional, feeling like a failure so early on. Anna was there every single step of the way to provide encouragement, education, and support. In fact, after conversations with a pediatrician and two separate lactation consultants, Anna was the only one who gave us actual helpful steps, tips, and things to try to improve our feeding efforts.
She was readily available to answer questions, and came in every visit with a smile on her face and an eagerness/love for her job that made her stand out. Of everyone we saw, Anna was the only medical professional to actually help us see success with breastfeeding so that our baby could start to feed consistently, avoid formula, and allow us to be discharged when we were. If you have ever had the pleasure of meeting someone who immediately exhibits not only a love but a true passion for what they do, then you know how special it must have been to have a nurse like Anna during such an incredibly special but also emotionally fragile time in our lives. She readily provided professional support and emotional support, and I never had to specify which was needed when - she always knew. It is so incredibly obvious that Anna was made to be a nurse, and our experience welcoming our little one into the world would have been 50x more overwhelming without her support and care - we consider her to be a huge part of our L&D/recovery experience and left the hospital feeling like we had gained a friend.
