I have had Megan as my nurse for my son twice in the last few months. Megan directs her care with compassion and takes care of the whole family. Megan took care of our entire family, while our son was waiting to find out if he was going to be admitted, she noticed that I was feeling overwhelmed and scared. She helped me get some relief for my migraine, made sure that I had something to eat, and acted as a huge support to me. It is really scary to have your child in the emergency department, and she let me talk to her and cry to her. She provided such a safe and trusting environment for me to cry, vent, and just let out my feelings after an exhausting day, all while constantly assessing my son for respiratory distress. She was so compassionate and patient with my son; it's not easy taking care of a 3-year old who doesn't understand what's happening. She found out what he liked and worked with him to make it as easy of a transition from the ED to inpatient as possible. Megan is such a kind soul, and I am so lucky to have been able to have her take care of all of us. She truly embodies what a nurse should be.
