Understanding the importance of a serene environment, Cara arranged a private and comfortable space for us to be with our dad as he passed.
As the unit manager, I was reaching out to a Veteran’s family who recently passed away in our ICU. He spoke so highly of Cara and wanted to ensure that she was recognized. I am submitting this DAISY Award on his behalf.

I am honored to nominate Cara, a dedicated nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at the Veterans Healthcare System of the Ozarks, for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional care and compassion during a profoundly difficult time for our family. During my father's final moments, Cara provided unparalleled support, ensuring he was comfortable and at peace. She took the time to thoroughly explain each step of the process to me and my family, addressing our questions with patience and empathy. Her clear and compassionate communication helped alleviate our anxieties, allowing us to focus on being present with our father.

Understanding the importance of a serene environment, Cara arranged a private and comfortable space for us to be with our dad as he passed. This thoughtful gesture provided us with a sense of intimacy and closure that we will forever cherish. Beyond her clinical duties, Cara was instrumental in helping us navigate the grieving process. She offered resources, shared comforting words, and displayed a genuine concern for our emotional well-being. Her holistic approach to care exemplifies the highest standards of nursing. Moreover, her coordination with the medical team was seamless, ensuring that our father's care was consistent and that we were promptly informed of any updates. Her professionalism and dedication did not go unnoticed. I am so proud to have had Cara caring for our nation's veterans. She is absolutely wonderful and deserves the highest recognition for her extraordinary service!
