Athari brings empathy into every corner of her work. She doesn’t just do her job; she lives what nursing should be.
From the moment I step into the unit, I hear Athari greeting every patient by name, asking how they’re doing, and checking in not just with politeness but with genuine warmth. She creates an atmosphere of comfort and dignity throughout the room.
There was one session I’ll never forget. I was exhausted and hypotensive, barely able to keep my eyes open. Although Nurse Athari wasn’t my assigned nurse that day, she came back and forth to check on me quietly, attentively, again and again. She adjusted my blanket, offered me water, and asked how I felt; always calm, kind, and present. It was such a small act in appearance, but a tremendous gesture of care in that moment. Even when I’m not one of her patients for the day, she always comes over to say hello and ask about my well-being. She always remembers to ask about my children, too, with sincere interest, never out of obligation.
What makes this even more inspiring is that she’s a mother, raising three young children. Despite all the demands in her life, she continues giving her time, energy, and heart to every patient she encounters.
Athari brings empathy into every corner of her work. She doesn’t just do her job; she lives what nursing should be. Her support and compassion have impacted my life, and I know many other patients feel the same way.
This nomination is just a small token of appreciation for all she does, day in and day out. She truly exemplifies the spirit of the DAISY Award as her compassion, dedication, and unwavering kindness qualities, which she has consistently shown throughout the years I’ve known her.
