Clarine found the make and model of the hearing aids. She then looked on the computer for the user manual. Clarine was able to get the hearing aids working!
Clarine received her DAISY nomination from a co-worker:

We had a “young” lady in our department who was very hard of hearing. She had her hearing aids at the hospital, but the morning I was caring for her, she was having difficulty getting them to work. She had asked her daughter to bring the directions for the hearing aids when she came back to the hospital. There had been a change in the patient’s condition that required her daughter to come to the hospital quickly. As a result, the patient’s daughter forgot to bring the hearing aid directions. When the patient’s condition improved, she was very disappointed that she still didn’t have the directions.

Clarine attempted multiple times to troubleshoot and get the hearing aids to function appropriately, but to no avail. But Clarine didn’t let that stop her. Clarine found the make and model of the hearing aids. She then looked on the computer for the user manual. Clarine was able to get the hearing aids working! Clarine even printed a copy of the manual for the patient to have for the remainder of her stay. The patient and the family were so appreciative. The patient's ability to hear allowed her to be more involved in her plan of care and helped the rest of the staff provide her with the best care.

What a great example of going above and beyond - because Clarine wasn’t even the patient’s primary nurse! She saw a patient in need and made a difference! We are so lucky to have Clarine as a member of our ICU and our Resource Team!

Thank you, Clarine!
