Anna was off for a bit between her shifts, and during that time, she went and bought us a little teddy bear. She unstitched it by hand and filled it with rice that weighed the exact amount as our baby boy did when he was born.
Anna was the first face we encountered during our tragic stay in the L&D unit. Unfortunately, I went into labor at 18 weeks & had a rare cord prolapse at home. I unfortunately gave birth to our forever-sleeping baby boy. This was the most sudden & tragic loss of our lives. To give birth & leave the hospital with nothing but a memory box is the worst pain our hearts have ever been through. Although the loss of our baby boy was traumatic, there is absolutely no way we could have gotten through it without Anna. She cried with us & prayed with us. She reassured me every chance she could that none of this was my fault. She said all the right things & more to try and make our unbearable pain seem a little easier to handle, knowing we weren't alone. Anna was off for a bit between her shifts, and during that time, she went and bought us a little teddy bear. She unstitched it by hand and filled it with rice that weighed the exact amount as our baby boy did when he was born. My husband and I were in absolute awe of the kindness she showed to two complete strangers who were having the worst day of their lives. Although nothing & nobody could take our pain away from us, Anna went above and beyond to show us so much love & kindness. I hope one day we return to welcome our rainbow baby & her perfect self is our nurse again. Anna was absolutely made to care for babies & their parents, she was made to comfort parents of loss.
