My mom did not even recognize me at first, which made the feelings even worse. However, then walks in Miranda. She was kind, caring, compassionate, and patient.
My mom was brought to the hospital urgently the week before, and my brother and dad were there with her the first week. Neither of them is in the medical field, so they were relaying information to me over the phone, as I am a nurse. It's so difficult to be a family member when you know what's going on, and also to be so far away and not be able to come immediately.

I made it here on Sunday after driving from California. I was tired, emotional, and anxious. My mom did not even recognize me at first, which made the feelings even worse. However, then walks in Miranda. She was kind, caring, compassionate, and patient. It was just what my mom needed, but as a family member, I needed it too. So many times, the care team is not as mindful of the family, but Miranda was exceptional. Miranda took the time to explain what had happened with Mom the first week and filled in the gaps for me. She purposefully paused and was patient with my mom taking her pills, getting her changed, and whatever she needed. She never appeared rushed or let on anything else that was happening on the unit. She truly exemplifies what it is to be a caring nurse. I have been a nurse for over 25 years, and she's amongst the best I have ever seen. I wish my nursing team had a fraction of the spark Miranda has naturally. Thank you for making our experience better.
