I found out 2 days later that the person who actually performed CPR and used the AED was an off-duty nurse (Tyler Hobson) who was simply there to pick up her twin boys from basketball.
Tyler Hobson is a hero and my lifesaver! I just finished playing a doubles pickleball game in the gymnasium. I went to the drinking fountain for a sip of water and went back into the gym. As I was sitting down in the bleachers I suddenly "passed out" and bumped my forehead and fell to the floor. The last thing I remember is saying "Oh no." A short time later I woke up and people were cheering. I waved to the crowd of 30+ people to indicate I was OK. I was wheeled out of the recreation center on a stretcher and rushed to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center in an ambulance. I assumed the paramedic who brought me to the ambulance was the one who revived me. I found out 2 days later that the person who actually performed CPR and used the AED was an off duty nurse (Tyler Hobson) who was simply there to pick up her twin boys from basketball. Tyler works in the labor and delivery unit at St. David's Medical Center. Tyler paid a visit to my ICU room just after my quadruple bypass operation. Tyler said it was the first time she'd done CPR "in the wild". I've traded a few text messages with Tyler since, and she is genuinely happy that I am recovering well, and she thinks of me often. I asked her to verify if people were clapping after she shocked me back to life. She said, "They did...and it was quite embarrassing. They were all trying to come up and talk to me, but I just couldn't talk to anyone, or else I felt like I would just burst out in tears." Tyler Hobson is a hero!
