My 91-year-old grandmother is staying at Encompass to get stronger, and she ended up getting an infection somewhere and possibly suspected pneumonia. She was getting sick fast. Nurse Kari came on and jumped in, checking everything out, and did an EKG since her pulse was very high and she was not herself. She immediately contacted the doctor. She went above and beyond, sat with my grandma, and even stayed with her, holding her hand, talking to her to ease her worry.

Kari made sure she was comfortable when she had a fever; she got wet wash cloths, and even gave her a bed bath. She was so calm and made the atmosphere less tense. She made sure all our family visiting was comfortable when we were there. She is the best nurse we have encountered since my grandma has been admitted to Altru Encompass.

She's a gem, and my grandmother really loved it when she cared for her this last week. She goes above and beyond just doing nursing duties, she changes bedding, bed baths, and gets snacks and food for her since she hasn't had much of an appetite. If we had questions and if she didn't have an answer, she would say, Let me check on that and get back to you. And she always did. We appreciate her so much.
