Amanda stepped in and went above and beyond her role to contact outside resources, making it possible for my nephew to receive special leave to come home.
During the month of October 2024, Amanda took care of my father when he was in the ICU. My dad had cancer and was suffering from complications during his stay. His health started to decline, and he was admitted to Fremont Methodist ICU. Amanda was very attentive to my father's care, his needs, as well as my family's needs. When we began talking about hospice, she helped my mother through the steps, answered her questions, and explained to my father what was going on. My mother and brothers were stressed, and our family was trying to figure out a way for my nephew to come back to see my dad before he passed away, as my nephew is in the Army and stationed in El Paso, Texas. We were not having any luck. Amanda stepped in and went above and beyond her role to contact outside resources, making it possible for my nephew to receive special leave to come home. He made it just in time and was able to spend time with my father while he was still alert and oriented. My father, who was also in the Army, had a special bond with my nephew, so this meant the world to him and our family. Thank you so much to Amanda for taking excellent care and for all the empathy and understanding she showed to my father and our family. Amanda is an exemplary model of a nurse, and Fremont Methodist is very lucky to have her.
