As a Canadian Afghan War veteran, I was constantly impressed by the professionalism, kindness, and compassion that I received during my healing stay on 6a. I got to witness the joy and pride every team member brought to their role and it was truly inspiring. The team was flawlessly committed to their mission of healing and to ensuring every patient's needs were addressed. Due to my illness, I had to pause my pursuit of a degree in biophysics from York University. Prior to my stay on 6a, I was unsure whether or not I would return. After witnessing the amazing work done here through the UHN, I plan on shifting my degree in the pursuit of medicine in the fall. I have become inspired to heal both myself and others. I cannot remember all the names of the team, nor did I want to draw attention to myself by asking, but there were no weak links in this chain. Marjery was my main day support and came in every morning like a ray of sunshine. But so did everyone. I joined the Canadian Forces and served my country with the understanding that I was defending places just like 6A. 6A turned out to be exactly what being Canadian is all about. It takes work to build and maintain a place as beautiful as we call home. On 6A, they are doing that work, they are doing it well, and they deserve every word I've written and then some. Thank you, 6A, TGH, UHN, and all of you involved.
