Tess is an exceptional nurse. She is an advocate, educator, and empathic nurse. Tess excels in her career. Tess is involved with process improvement, policy clarifications, education, and culture building on the unit. Most importantly, she advocates for her patients and provides them with quality care every time she enters the room. Tess builds 56 seconds with her patients with ease. She has been seen sitting at the bedside with patients and families, having a conversation and building relationships with them. She has been recognized many times by patients for making them feel comfortable and showing compassion. Tess goes above and beyond for her patients. Tess listens to her patients and tries to alleviate any outside concerns so they can focus on their healing. Patients have voiced specific cravings for food or drinks that we do not have at the hospital, and Tess doesn't hesitate. She has the items delivered to the hospital and provides them to the patients.

We had a difficult patient over the last year, and Tess took the time to talk with the patient, get to understand her concerns and frustrations. The patient had a large amount of stress with a young child who was calling her, telling her he was hungry and did not have food to eat at his grandma's house. This was causing the patient to want to leave AMA and not receive the proper care that she needed. Tess, without hesitation, asked what the patient's son would like to eat and had DoorDash deliver a meal for him. Tess did not stop there. Tess advocated for the patient and her family and escalated the concerns to the doctor, voicing that the patient was frustrated and wanted to leave due to her son not having food. The doctor then provided grocery delivery for this family to help the patient feel more comfortable staying and getting the care she needed.

Tess provides these acts of kindness on a regular basis to her patients and peers. Tess is an exceptional nurse and coworker. Tess not only takes great care of her patients, but she also does her coworkers. She builds strong, trusting relationships with them. She is a listener and a friend. She celebrates her peers, is a strong resource, and bakes some of the best cakes you will ever taste! Tess is an asset to the 4NT and OhioHealth team, and I am blessed to be able to work with her. She is an inspiration to others. |
