As we all know, getting diagnosed with cancer is an extremely scary time in a person's life. Jacky's calm and compassionate demeanor helps these patients during this time.
Jacky cares so much about patient safety and quality of care. She recently took on the wound care collaborative, and I am so thankful for this, as she has fantastic knowledge of wound care. She is working collaboratively with the corporate wound care collaborative and the wound care nurses.

Jacky has worked hard to decrease the number of Foley catheters in our inpatients. She has provided group and one-on-one education, conducted daily Foley audits, followed up with individual nurses and providers, and worked with the ED to decrease the number of Foley catheters inserted there. The Foley catheter days have decreased significantly, largely based on Jacky's efforts. Our SUR rate has decreased to under the national benchmark of 1.

Even with Jacky's day-to-day duties, she agreed to assist the oncology nurse navigator with chemo teaches, which involves spending around an hour with each new chemo patient to ensure that they understand the process they will be going through. Jacky has a strong passion for cancer patients. As we all know, getting diagnosed with cancer is an extremely scary time in a person's life. Jacky's calm and compassionate demeanor helps these patients during this time.

For all of these reasons and so many more, I am nominating Jacky for The DAISY Award. She lives out the mission and values every day. I feel so blessed to work with such a talented nurse!
