Her honesty, transparency, and commitment to not only my own professional growth but also the organization are something to be recognized.  She is a wealth of knowledge and provides support to her teams and individual leaders.
As a new nurse leader, it is very challenging to take control of new situations. I cannot stress enough how supportive Melissa has been throughout a very difficult situation. She has provided a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, and pearls of wisdom, making an impossible situation seem possible, one day at a time. Thank you, Melissa!

Melissa has been instrumental in my transition from an in-house Nursing Supervisor to the Nurse Manager of the OGCC and GYN Specialty Care Center. There has been no question too big or too small she can’t help with answering. She has made herself available to me anytime I needed her. I appreciate Melissa’s kind words of encouragement throughout this process. Congratulations Melissa, this recognition is well deserved!!

Melissa has been the most supportive boss I have ever had. She is always available when I need her, and if in that moment she can’t help, she always finds the time to circle back. She knows her team of leaders and is able to pull on their individual strengths/weaknesses to create a great team. Not only is she supportive in the workplace, she also knows and understands what it is like to be a working-mom which adds a sense of comfort when trying to juggle the work-life balance. Melissa is well deserving of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award!

For me, the mentoring began when I began the nurse manager role for OPIU.  My first interaction with her that I can recall was an EOC round where she visited.  I gave her the name "Eagle Eye" because of her attention to the smallest details.  She is a person with whom I felt confident, and who guided me down avenues I could not think of.  She is always welcoming and open to listening.  As I grow as a leader, her example of leadership and our talks are valuable tools as I navigate through my own personal growth.

Over the past 5 months, Melissa has been an incredible mentor and advocate throughout my transition into this role. Her unwavering support and genuine investment in my success have made all the difference.

Transitioning from another organization where I had a supportive mentor and leadership team was something I was worried to move from, until I spoke with Melissa.  From the beginning I knew I wasn’t losing a mentor I was gaining another one.  Her honesty, transparency, and commitment to not only my own professional growth but also the organization are something to be recognized.  She is a wealth of knowledge and provides support to her teams and individual leaders.  Not only is Melissa our leader, I consider her a friend and someone I can trust and confide in.  We are lucky to have her and well deserving of this recognition!

Melissa was instrumental in my promotion to Nurse Manager.  I had previously applied for three other management positions within WIH without an opportunity to interview.  Once I was interviewed for my current position, she was a big “YES” in my corner.  Her support made me feel valued and appreciated.  She consistently encourages my growth as a leader and provides positive feedback throughout the process.
