I am writing to nominate this nurse for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional compassion and dedication to patient care. Recently, a patient who had recently become homeless and moved to the area was admitted to our facility. This patient had Type 2 diabetes and, unfortunately, their shoes were too large and did not provide the necessary support for their condition.

When this nurse noticed the patient’s need, she went above and beyond her duty. After learning that the patient would be admitted overnight, she took it upon herself to personally purchase a pair of memory foam shoes for the patient using her own funds. Even though it was her day off, she came to the hospital to deliver the shoes, ensuring the patient’s comfort and care.

Her selflessness and dedication to the patient’s well-being demonstrate a deep level of compassion that goes far beyond standard nursing responsibilities. This small act of kindness made a significant difference to the patient, who felt not only physically more comfortable but also deeply touched by the thoughtfulness of a nurse who truly cared about their health and dignity.

She exemplifies the core values of nursing, and it is with great admiration and gratitude that I nominate her for the DAISY Award. Her efforts reflect the very best of patient-centered care and kindness.
