I am honored to nominate Maria Alvarez-Robles. She is approachable, always makes time to listen, and genuinely cares about the well-being and professional growth of every team member. Maria fosters a positive work environment where teamwork thrives and everyone feels valued. Since recently joining the management team, I've found many aspects of the role to be new and at times overwhelming. Throughout this transition, Maria has been a true role model - her passion, encouragement, and unwavering support have helped me grow more confident in my role. What is the definition of a leader? A leader to me is someone with a heart of gold; someone whose door is open to both his/her co-workers and subordinates. Someone who listens, inspires, motivates, supports, and empowers his/her team; has a good command of communication, articulating a clear vision on how to establish and achieve the goals of the team. He/she also leads the way by setting an example on how to behave and handle conflicts with integrity, empathy, and kindness, and our manager Maria embodies these definitions, which need to be celebrated and she is highly deserving of the coveted DAISY Nurse Leader Award. I also want to share what her/our co-workers have to say about Maria.
