Our Foster daughter turned 5 Friday. She was admitted to the hospital on Thursday, and the nurses found out it was her birthday the next day and would be there for it. When they asked her what plans she had, she told them all she wanted to do was go to Road House to eat a steak and ride on the saddle. This obviously wasn't happening on her actual birthday because of her stay, but man, the nurses were amazing!

Let me just tell you, when I say my momma heart was so incredibly touched by the random acts of kindness Friday. She had ICU nurses, OB nurses, cafeteria workers, interpreters from her floor, and different floors come and bring her gifts, make her cards. Bring her birthday cake and cookies and wish her a happy birthday!

Not only did all these strangers cover our Nugget in birthday love, but the doctors and nurses brought in a saddle, ordered her a steak, and brought it to her room. How amazing that these strangers saw a need and provided. I can't thank them enough. I wish I knew every single nurse and doctor's name to thank them individually, but unfortunately, I don't. I hope this makes its way to anyone and everyone who can see how amazing these staff members are and the blessing they truly are. Thank you again so much for taking such good care of my foster daughter.

I left the street by way of incarceration. I found my way to Schneck Memorial because of a lower abdominal hernia (my second one). As I sit here waiting for surgery, I worry about where I will go and how and where I shall recover from this operation, for I am homeless. The staff and volunteers here are phenomenal. They are giving me hope and the strength to let them help me. I have stayed skeptical of anyone’s ability to help see me through to my maximum goal. A fresh start and faith to see it through. I don’t like to complicate things, but I nominate the entire nursing staff for the award. My heroes!
